Bogdan Model 00 Fly Reel

Bogdan Model 00 Fly ReelA superb Bogdan 00 salmon reel, 3 1 4" diameter and set up for RHW. This 00 model was the lightest of Stan's salmon reels, made to accommodate a #7 line for grilse or large sea trout. It weighs 10. 3 ounces according to my scale. Mint unused condition. The frame and spool are silver anodized, while the sideplates are black. The crank, foot, oil port cover, poacher's knob, and Bogdan nameplate are clear anodized. The reel has a 2: 1 multiplying

The length is exactly nine feet

The reel seate is a nickel silver downlocking screwlock witha nickel silver pocket cap and mortised wood spacer

with just a hint of brassing to the edges of the butt cap on the seat

A rare Hardy Zenith Multiplier fly reel

including the original receipt

It is straight overall and the ferrule fits are good (though one of the tips has a very slight outward sweep to it from the ferrule being mounted slightly offcenter)

and built for what feels like a #4

The screwlock has an unusual feature

It is also a single tip rod which he made a few of in the first three years (mostly longer rods)

Appears to be in mint or at most lawn cast condition

The enameled finish shows much wear but mechanically the reel is in excellent condition
