Hardy Brassed Bronzed Platewind Reel 4" with CaseA very nice Hardy Brass Bronzed Platewind reel, 4" in diameter which favors RHW. Made from the 1880's this size was discontinued in 1910 and was second in price only to Hardy's ebonite and German silver offering. A very fine example of this model, this reel has normal cosmetic wear and patina that you'd expect of a reel this age, but is in superb condition with a straight foot, a pleasing click and no defects that I could find. No lightweight, this

otherwise the rod is in original condition

Reel comes with original grey Abel reel case and Scientific Anglers Ultra 2 WF-7F and backing in like new condition

The rod features lemon yellow silks tipped hunter green which was a departure from their more standard designs

The reel is in excellent original condition with the exception of the reel foot being neatly trimmed on both ends (but now at 2 1/2" in length

Includes its original two-compartment red bag with label as well as the original tube with label 95% intact

only a slight hint of brassing to the anodizing where the line is taken up

There is some wear to the inner guides and the varnish is only in fair condition

The action is a wonderful medium fast dry fly for a 4 weight line though some might prefer a 3 weight

The rod measures 6'9" with two sections and two tips and is designed for a three or four weight line
