Billy Pate Tarpon Fly Reel

Billy Pate Tarpon Fly ReelBilly Pate Tarpon Anti Reverse fly reel, 3 3 4" diameter and set up for RHW. There are a few small handling marks but I could find no sign that the reel has actually been fished. Classic Anti Reverse design with a gold satin anodized frame and black anodized spool. The backplate has the Billy Pate writing in script with the tarpon model noted, along with Ted Juracsik's name in script. It is serial "U986". The reel weighs 11. 5 ounces on my scale.

The rod comes packed in a tan poplin bag and a brushed aluminum tube with brass top

This doesn't of course detract from this being a fabulous fishing reel

The rod shaft varnish is very light and looks more like a very thin dip rather than a brush finish

The step ferrules are oxidized and are factory tight
