The exterior is glazed in a deep cobalt blue ground and decorated with elaborate gilt scrollwork, foliate arabesques, and a central oval portrait medallion depicting a young woman in profile, wearing a floral wreath and blue ribbon in her hair, dressed in a pink and yellow drape. The medallion is set against a gilt crosshatch ground and framed by a gilt dentil
