Thistles - photogravure print - The Weekly EditionThe weather has turned here in Portland where I live. I found myself out in one of my favorite places, Sauvie Island and was happy to find lots of props to include in my photographs. Thistles are a favorite of mine, they stand there with lots of drama and defense doing the work of nature. Hand pulled photogravure print is made with Charbonnel Noir 55981, Bistre, and Red ochre inks on Hahnemhle copperplate paper. I printed an edition of 6 numbered

6"x 6" inches on an 11"x15

I decided on an edition of 9 numbered prints and 3 A/P prints

I was later surprised to find out folks had to pay to have the leaves hauled away by the city

This small town and commune is the southwestern French department of Lot-et-Garonne had many of these almost secret streets winding around and making me wonder about who might be living here
