Our top floor apartment in Albi had a large balcony with this view of The River Tarn, it worked well on this Romantic. I found that many of the stories I wanted to tell on my trip to France rose up from the romance I felt for the place. Hand pulled photogravure print is made with Charbonnel Noir 55981, and Warm Red inks on Hahnemhle copperplate paper. I printed an edition of 6 numbered prints and 2 A P prints. Hand pulled

and process I want my pictures to transport the viewer to a past that lives only in their imaginations

Now when I find myself making portraits they are less about the identity of the sitter and more about the language of gesture

This area was the centre for hat shops and milliners supplies in 19th century Paris

Sometimes my friends and family bring me props from nature to use in my work

I understand that there are myths and lore about these berries and trees in other cultures

The familiar part is comforting to me and allows me to get to work quickly and connect well

I found myself imagining Bernardo as a young man walking with the sheep

I also made a few Platinum prints with a layer of Gum Bichromate on top giving the print a slight warm red hue
