Around Midnight - photogravure print - The Weekly EditionI love the process of photography, especially the older ones that were around at the beginning of photography. Somehow the process takes my mind back in time and my photograph goes along for the ride, it looks old, and has the marks of the makers hand, for better or worse. It is contrasty and backward, the blues are white and the reds are black. I was struck by the feeling that this woman stepped out on the porch at midnight under a full moon. Hand

I find the much of my work relies on detail

I make pictures along the way

not because I dislike the work made in these spaces

for better or worse

with a small hole at the top

I was stunned by the beauty of this Oak tree with a light fog in the air

I talk about this idea in my portrait workshops as a way to insure portrait photographs transcend beyond the identity of the sitter

I printed an edition of 8 numbered prints and 4 A/P prints
