R.L. Winston Bamboo Salmon Rod 9' 2/1 #8A powerful Winston salmon rod in mint, unused condition. Weighing 5 ounces, this rod is serial number 3841. It has a full flexing but strong action and will throw a lot of line! Perfect varnish and great ferrule fit and the rod is straight as a pin. Varnished shafts boast tan guide wraps and the female ferrule is wrapped to the welt in typical Winston fashion. Two stripping guides, the lower one being an agate. Bamboo front cork check. Wells grip.

I don't know anything about the origins of this pattern although it reminds me of the Green Spey

There are five bands of color at the keeper wrap which climbs up onto the front edge of the grip

This rod has a number of nice small touches too

near mint condition with the only sign of use being a small mark on the reel seat where a reel has been fitted lightly at some point
