Humbert Freres, Charmes Chambertin

Humbert Freres, Charmes Chambertin(from a . 20 ha parcel of 60+ year old vines located in Mazoyres). Moderate wood is present on the spicy, fresh and ripe black pinot fruit aromas that are trimmed in warm earth wisps. The wood also appears on the palate of the larger scaled flavors that are not quite as concentrated before terminating in a compact, firm, powerful and impressively long finish. This is on the woodier side stylistically but its not over the top.

This is also very ripe with hints of menthol adding top notes to the plum

intensely flavored and medium-sweet

Already quite soft and round on the front palate with fine tannins only on the very end

verging on sour lemon mixed with lime and peach towards the finish

Medicinal and smoky on the nose with surprisingly strong oak spice on the nose – though not the palate

the 2018 Pluribus (a barrel sample) reveals a deep garnet-purple

this is lovely stuff

the wine shows a little heat along with dry tannins in the opulent
