Along the Columbia River #2 - photogravure print - The Weekly EditionI had a conversation recently with a good friend and photographer about working in the landscape. She talked about the vastness of the outdoors and our relationship and relative size. These ideas resonated with me and helped me identify a feeling I have had but never articulated. The pictures in this series are my expression of the way we spoke that day. This hand pulled photogravure print is made with Charbonnel Bistre, Noir 55981, and Sanguine inks

Wanting to see a printmaking studio I had read about we journeyed across town only to find it had closed and was no longer in operation

On the day I made this photograph I was out in a favorite location with a generous model and I was exploring

I found these thistles along the road so I collected a few and photographed them later in my backyard studio

5 x 8 on an 11x15 sheet

the blues are white and the reds are black

I love the process of photography

with a trace of Charbonnel sanguine ink on Rives BFK paper
