Set of Four Japanese Lacquer BoxesFine set of four late 19th century black lacquer and gold decorated fan shaped nesting boxes, the two smaller boxes fit snugly into the larger ones, lined with felt inside. Japan, Meiji period, circa 1880. Perfect for jewellery or small objects. Why we like them The intricacy of detail of the polychrome and gilt decoration is simply astonishing, a wonderfully decorative and useful item. In excellent antique condition, minor wear to decoration.
