Description
Orvis 1874 Reproduction ReelA 1990's reproduction of the rare C. F. Orvis 1874 Trout Reel, 2 7 8" diameter. The bias feels neutral to me. Ventilated narrow spool design, paying homage to the originals from the 19th century. The reel is marked "C. F. Orvis Maker, Patented Manchester, VT" on the backplate around the spindle nut. The reel appears unfished. It comes in a walnut box with a section for the detachable handle.
Near mint condition with original bag but no tube
or nymphing
The rod tube has black crackle paint with a gold anodized aluminum collar and top
This rod is from the earliest days of Fenwick (1955-1962)
Hebeisen" - part of the Wildwasser series of rods
Dark walnut burl reel seat with only the barest hint of brassing to the cap
and was built for #12 lines with 125 yards of 20lb backing
Serial X-85-1 dates the rod to 1954
3 1/4" diameter with a 1 3/8" spool width
