The process of making the work appears to the outsider as a one way affair with me, the photographer in control. The truth is I am the one in control (as much as it is possible to control) of the process of photography. However the rest is a two way deal. Often times the subject offers gestures and feelings and I am lucky enough to be ready. Hand pulled photogravure print is made with Charbonnel Noir

I've spent the last 30 winters in Portland Oregon wearing long underwear from October to March

We found this beautiful and ornate church in Bordeaux by accident

we helped each other over a few years through all the fits and starts of this beautiful and finicky process

8 x 10 inches on an 15 x 20 sheet

I made the print small on a large sheet because it felt right for this

The typefaces influenced by the Art Deco & Art Nouveau so prevalent here in Prague

I notice the gestures they make and the ways they change as they age I am drawn to them

I find them in thrift shops
