When I do find myself making a still life photograph with botanicals it is usually a result of my overwhelming desire to make work and a casual volunteer showing up in my view. I probably do not think about them as flowers but instead as feelings and visual shapes and textures. These poppies were appropriated from my neighbors garden on this summer day. I was struck by the permanence of the message all the same

I feel a bit funny about using the word nostalgia to describe the feelings I have about things from the past I never myself experienced

I traded a print for this raku pot made by a potter at the event
