Thompson 500 Fly Reel

Thompson 500 Fly ReelA scarce Thompson No. 500 fly reel, 3 3 8" diameter and set up for RHW. These reels were made in California in the late 1940's and similar in style and performance to the classic Hardy Perfect, (but considerably more scarce). This one is in near mint condition with just a few trace marks here and there and given the overall condition they may be handling marks as I see no obvious signs that the reel has been fished. The maker was either US Net & Twine or the Montague City Rod Company after the merger of the two companies

The guide wraps look original but the female wraps are not

Uplocking screwlock with the " The Leonard Rod

3-tip (both short

Comes loaded with a WF6 sink-tip and backing

Winston stamped on a plate screwed to the back plate

This reel also comes in what appears to be the original leather case with the intials "LTS" impressed in the top
