Hardy Brass Perfect Reproduction Reel 2 7/8”A nice Hardy All Brass Perfect 125th Anniversary fly reel, 3" diameter and set up for what feels like a slight favor to LHW. In 1997 1998 Hardy made 1000 of these 3" all brass Perfect replicas of their 1890's reel. This one is #230 (the reel is stamped "HGH R230" on the inside of the frame, and then again "230" on the foot crossbar). Mint, unused condition. The rod fits into a dark painted PVC tube with a cork retaining ring to stop the rod from striking the tube bottom

Anodized gold aluminum up-locking reel seat over a beautifully figured wood spacer

Most of the original leading on the reel has worn away

The color plates in the portfolio are all numbered 389 in brown crayon and signed as well on the lower left corner

and is a phenomenal example of light catskill rodbuilding

The creel has been displayed and never used of course and remains in excellent condition

The slide ring retains only about 25-30% of its original oxidation

His rods are not seen at all on the resale market and that tells us something about the ~35 owners' satisfaction level with their rods

Comes with the original Payne tube with most of the label intact

they have developed some sort of tarnish on both counterbalances

The rod remains in excellent plus condition

The cap and ring could use a little hand polish to get rid of a slight film of oxidation
