EF Payne Bamboo Fly Rod 8' 3/2 #4

EF Payne Bamboo Fly Rod 8' 3/2 #4An early EF Payne bamboo fly rod, 8', 3 piece, 2 tip and built for what feels to me like a #4. The rod weighs 3. 1 ounces on my scale. This is fairly close to the specs for a Model 200 rod, but without a hang tag we'll never know for sure. Likely a late 1920's model but professionally refinished in the 1960's judging by the straight tube tip tops. The cork grip is 5 1/2" long and shaped to a medium-to-blunt cigar profile

The wraps are light brown with black edges

but my scale has it at 5

2/1 for a five weight line

Comes in a tan bag with stiffener and an aluminum tube with a brass collar and top

as postage costs may need to be adjusted

this one says "Bougle Agate I" on the winding plate even though there is no agate lineguard

This reel includes a very scarce feature in addition to the base reel

A historic rod in a scarce length

Hardcover in full leather binding with gilt titles on the spine and the Flyfisher's Classic Library logo

The varnish over the script and wraps remains like new
