Charlton 8550C Reel with Tarpon Spool

Charlton 8550C Reel with Tarpon SpoolA superb Charlton 8550C fly reel with a tarpon spool. Set up for RHW. Mint condition, I could find no sign that this reel has ever been on a rod. 4 1 2" diameter with a 1 3 16" spool width. The capacity for this model is listed as WF 10 and 400 yards of 30 lb backing. Serial #8550 9789. The sealed carbon fiber disk drag is self adjusting and has over 9 square inches of surface area. Excellent all black type III hard anodizing except for the center

Medium fast action and the taper is semi-parabolic

The guides are anchored with gorgeous bright red wraps tipped in black

This rod has an uplocking screw-lock reel seat with Payne's standard Spanish cedar spacer

The wraps are brown with yellow edges

An excellent little rod to see again after many years

The reel has a buttery smooth and strong adjustable drag and click and has recently had its leather drag pads replaced

The ferrules sizes are 15/64 and 10/64 and the ferrule fit is good

The rod is wrapped brown and sports a keeper and carbide stripping guide with dark bronze snakes the rest of the way

Good used condition with just a tiny hint of rim rash in a couple of small spots
