The Dordogne River - Domme, France - photogravure print - The Weekly EditionThe Dordogne River Domme, France Of everything we looked at during the 27 days we traveled in France it was this view of the Dordogne river and the French countryside that made me swoon. From a balcony high above in the city of Domme, the French landscape took my breath away. Hand pulled photogravure print is made with Charbonnel Noir 55981, Bistre, Sanguine, and Warm Sepia inks on Hahnemhle copperplate paper. I printed an edition of 8 numbered prints

Now when I find myself making portraits they are less about the identity of the sitter and more about the language of gesture

This area was the centre for hat shops and milliners supplies in 19th century Paris

My studio has many waiting around for the next opportunity to be included in one of my pictures

I strive to embrace this feeling and allow it to inspire and fuel my creative journey

This is the beginning of a series I have been wanting to make for the 30 years I have lived next to this mighty river

and full of excitement

The pattern of the oak leaves cast by the sunlight and the subtile grasses felt dreamy to me and a perfect fit of the process I had in mind

I think this is part of my attraction to this exotic feeling fruit so I have made many photographs over the years

For me I only do them occasionally and between these session I suffer a bit of amnesia
